Eye On You - Foxbat

Band Members:Dip, Dive, Dodge, and Dodge, Duck

Foxbat (stylized as FXBT) is an established riff-rock and heavy metal band hailing from Louisville, Kentucky. I got the pleasure to be sonically abused at Wrongside 812's final show in Jeffersonville, Indiana and again later out in the myriad of shows that blow up in the Louisville, Southern Indiana area. More than that, they've been spotted supporting local artists in the crowds at many of Louisville's awesome shows!

I am so impressed, I'm keeping my eye on them. Just recently, they've released a new EP that needs to be added to my collection ASAP. That's what prompted me to tell you about them. They absolutely must be on your radar!

Musical Style & Sonic Evolution

Foxbat is primarily recognized for a distinct brand of heavy alternative rock, southern metal, and post-hardcore. While early records blended aggressive metalcore textures with melodic active rock hooks, their musical trajectory has leaned heavily into thick, groove-laden "riff-rock". Music critics have frequently compared their sound to acts like He Is Legend, Deftones, and Every Time I Die.

Discography & Production Milestones

• Early Releases: The band first gathered regional momentum with their debut EP, "Eat My Young", released on the prominent regional label Little Heart Records.

• ROTGUT (2018): Foxbat released their breakthrough sophomore full-length album, "Rotgut", on August 3, 2018, via Core Sample Records. Fronted by vocalist Clay Nevels, the 10-track record was produced by Jordan Haynes (of Artifex Pereo) and mastered by acclaimed heavy music engineer Kris Crummett. The single "Summer" debuted with an exclusive premier and accompanying music video.

• Due South (2022): Expanding their creative output, the band launched a multi-media project titled "Due South" in April 2022, which featured a concept album accompanied by a custom, self-published comic book.

• The Sucker EP (2026): In August 2026, the band returned with "The Sucker" EP, preceded by hard-hitting singles like "Salt" and "Trauma Club"—the latter featuring a dedicated music video directed by Hunter O'Dell. The EP notably included the track "Post-Heist", featuring a guest vocal appearance by Stephen Christian of alternative rock giants Anberlin.

If maintaining an active touring force throughout the Midwest and Southern United States, sharing stages with notable national heavy acts such as Norma Jean, Attack Attack!, Knocked Loose, The Devil Wears Prada, and Stabbing Westward doesn't perk you up, I don't know what to tell you. Locally, they are a frequent fixture of the Southern Indiana and Louisville underground scene, headlining local bills at venues like The Alcove in Jeffersonville and St. Matthews' The Fox Den.

To see their live energy and visual styling in action, you can check out the official music video for one of their cornerstone heavy tracks, "Destroyer". Find out more at their lnktree - Foxbat Official: TikTok, Instagram, Facebook | Linktree

What an awesome write up!

I've enjoyed these guys every time I've interacted with them at a show as people, and am always blown away by their frenetic performances.

They give to their crowds, and every show I've seen, the crowd (myself included) have been more than happy to return the energy. 🤘❤️

Getting some of the back story and cannon on the band was great.

Thanks for taking the time to feature them
